The Sunken Garden
Guests gather beside a tranquil lily pond in our sunken garden as a bride descends flagstone steps to meet her groom beneath a cathedral of towering, timeworn trees. Cocktails unfold around the circa-1920s swimming pool, enclosed by wrought-iron gates adorned with cascading roses, iris, azaleas, and hydrangeas. Designed by renowned landscape architect Charles Downing Lay, the garden unfolds across three graceful tiers, each centered around the calming presence of water. As the sun sets, an elegant white tent welcomes dinner and dancing, with the Susquehanna River painting the horizon—bringing the evening to life in the most magical way imaginable.
