How to TikTok Your Wedding

With the increase in social media platforms, sharing pictures and videos of your big day can be endless! Here is what we do when creating one of these videos:

Step 1: Who films?

We know many of our brides and grooms are pretty tech-savvy, but on your special day, you may not have the time to capture every detail. Deciding who can make this video is your first step. You can look to any vendors and see if they create TikToks of weddings as we do here at Lauxmont Farms. Ask them if it’s possible to have someone make one for your day! Or, you can ask one of your bridesmaids or groomsmen. You’ll want to choose someone who will already be with you a good portion of the day and has time to capture those special moments. They’ll likely already be taking plenty of pictures and videos, so this will be an easy task!

Step 2: What to Film?

There are so many things that go into your wedding day that it may be hard to choose what to film!

  • The Venue! (wink wink)

  • Decor, florals, and table set-up

  • The First Look

  • Your first kiss as a married couple

  • Reception entrances

  • Special moments- father-daughter dance, toasts, cake cutting, etc.

  • Vendors- Did you get a food truck? Rent a photo booth? Show it off!

  • Your First Dance

  • Anything unique to YOU!

Step 3: Editing

TikTok’s video editing tools don’t begin and end with your camera. The app is home to a massive archive of popular music and audio clips. Users have access to a fun lineup of video effects as well. The platform provides you with all the tools you need!

You don’t need to be an editing pro to make a video on the app. TikTok has a sound sync option that automatically syncs up a song of your choice and the clips you choose to upload. However, if you prefer to extend the length of certain parts of your video, (3min max on the app) you can choose the default setting. This will allow you to edit any clip you have selected for your video, shave down the length to a special moment or time, and edit your wedding TikTok to your design!

Then when you move on to the next step of the editing process, you can choose what song, filter, or effect you desire. This is a representation of your big day so feel free to personalize it! Once you are finished with your video, you may choose a cover and write out your caption. Tiktok automatically saves your creation to your camera roll, so you can share it with any other social media platforms, friends, and family.

Step 4: Share

Now for the fun part! Share your TikTok with family and friends, don’t forget to tag your vendors and share with them as well. Most wedding vendors rely on word of mouth to book events and every video helps other couples dream up new and creative ways to celebrate. Hashtags are one of the TikTok algorithm’s ranking signals. This means that including hashtags in your video description makes it easy for the algorithm to put it in front of the audience that will respond to it.
