Getting Ready: Tips & Tricks

Brides- Your wedding is quickly approaching. The dress hangs in your closet, the shoes in the box, hair and makeup are booked. Now what? In the final week before your big day, here are some tips to make your wedding day go as smoothly as possible!

  1. Make an Emergency Kit

Things happen, whether you want them to or not. Throw together a small emergency kit so that you’re prepared for anything! If your beautiful heels turn to your worst nightmare, avoid blisters with skin-tones Band-Aids. Don’t put on your dress until the last moment possible, but just in case, having a stain stick will help any accidental spills. While most wedding day makeup is built to last, pack an extra lipstick or chapstick so you can reapply during a spare moment. Expecting a tearful ceremony? Include extra eyelash glue in case your lashes start to come off. Lastly, add in a sewing kit to save the day if a small rip or tear happens.

2. Stay Fed! (and Hydrated)

It is so easy to get caught up in the activity of the day and forget to eat and drink. Especially with the heavy dress and lots of movement, it’s important to remember to take care of yourself. It’s a good idea to ask a trusted friend or family member to bring snacks and LOTS of water. You can also order in breakfast or lunch- plenty of places deliver or you could send someone to pickup an order! If you’re wondering where to go, Lauxmont has a brochure of all the restaurants available for delivery or pickup in the surrounding area. And don’t forget the groom or your partner when you order!

3. Create Boxes per Table

To help staff make your decor visions come to life, organize everything by table. Add tablecloths, centerpieces, plates and cutlery, or anything else you may want into a box and place it on its table. This way it is already organized and ready to be assembled quickly!

4. Designate a Day-Of Contact

When issues or confusion arise on your wedding day, you shouldn’t be the one sorting them out. Designate a few trusted family members or friends who will be there during the day to be the go-to’s for information! You can do this by making a packet of information needed the day of and distributing it. That way, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy your special day with interruption!
